Wilkes-Barre, PA – July 21, 2022 – Children’s Service Center of Wyoming Valley (CSC) and its adult care affiliate, Robinson Counseling Center (RCC), have appointed Renata A. Meyer M.D., ABIM-CE, as Medical Director of the Conyngham Primary Health Care Center. The new Primary Health Care Center will open in September 2022 with integrated physical and mental health services for the community at the CSC/RCC Wilkes-Barre campus headquarters, 335 South Franklin Street.

The Conyngham Center will expand the organization’s 2018 initial effort to combine physical and mental health services to facilitate more comprehensive support for families, many of whom face a higher level of risk in their daily lives due to income disparity and reduced access to care. CSC and RCC serve nearly 12,000 clients annually across locations in Wilkes-Barre, Tunkhannock, Honesdale, Hazleton, and Danville.

Dr. Meyer will work to establish a comprehensive primary care practice, including laboratory and pharmacy services, in coordination with a nurse practitioner, registered nurse, medical assistant and support staff to ensure timely attention for children, adults and families.

Michael P. Hopkins, CSC’s President and CEO, said the expanded services reflect a research-based plan to bring a one-stop facility that addresses health and wellness within the family. “Children with emotional and mental health disorders often improve when their physical health is treated,” he says, “and parents often have difficulty finding services for their families, which impacts growth and development, while putting off care for themselves. The Conyngham Primary Health Care Center will deliver care comprehensively to address general health, mental health, and the social support needs of our clients in a continuous and family-centered manner.”

Most recently, Dr. Meyer served as a primary care physician in Scranton, PA, with Commonwealth Health System since 2019. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2019, Dr. Meyer completed an internal medicine residency with the Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education, Scranton. Her training also included a post-doctoral fellowship at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria, where she earned her medical degree in 2007.

Dr. Meyer will provide general medical care for patients, including preventive medicine, disease diagnosis & management, physicals, and wellness services.

Founded in 1862, Children’s Service Center and its adult care affiliate, Robinson Counseling Center, operate a comprehensive behavioral health network to address mental health, substance use disorder, primary care, and autism spectrum disorder. More than 11,000 children and adults receive care annually at offices in Wilkes- Barre, Tunkhannock, Honesdale, Hazleton, and Danville, as well as home and school settings across Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania.
